You Can't Help But Watch

There are many NFL games that people will be talking about this week (and weekend). But everyone is going to have their eyes on the match up between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.

Don't be embarrassed if you don't know why. That's why you're here.

The game will be talked about because Brett Favre, the Vikings starting quarterback, used to be the long-time quarterback of the Packers. Favre lead the Packers to a Super Bowl victory and was beloved in Green Bay. Now, he's playing for a team that Packers fans detest. (FYI - Favre played last year for the NY Jets before joining The Vikes.)

They'll be a lot of chatter about this match up. So, here's your heads up. When it's brought up around the office (or bar or gym), chat about how Favre will match up against his former teammates, how his former back-up Aaron Rodgers is leading the Pack and which team is better off now. You'll hear a lot about Favre's waffling about whether to play again but don't let that distract you from THE GAME.

Either way, it's gonna be fun.

Baseball Playoff - redux

Thanks for stopping by the KQ Sports BBQ.

So, the baseball playoffs are just around the corner. In case you're not aware, the Yankees, Cardinals and Dodgers have clinched. (There's one sports topic that you can rollout this weekend to chat about.)

If that only conversation lasts so long, then chat about some of the best teams ever. One of those teams in my view is the '75 Cincinnati Reds. And I don't think that I'm alone. I haven't read this yet but I can't wait to. Even in the reviews, there are great tidbits about the Big Red Machine and its manager.

More to come. Enjoy!

The BBQ is back

It's been a busy off-season and I've taken too much downtime (cue the trumpets) but the BBQ is re-opening. I'm pulling off the grill cover, firing up the charcoal briquettes, brushing the drippings off and dropping some tasty tips on the grill.

This blog is especially for people who aren't as interested in sports as I am and yet, you may find yourselves in work and social situations where sports topics and analogies are the only way people communicate. When that happens and you're at a loss for some way to contribute to the convo, drop by the KQ Sports BBQ.

Here's an example:
The discussion at the office is about pro football and you feel that you have nothing to add. Some suggestions:
> Do you think the Eagles can go much longer without Donovan McNabb at QB (he's injured with a cracked rib) before the season gets away? Is Michael Vick ready to step into and run the Eagles offense?

> How effective do you think the Dolphins Wildcat offense is?

> Do you think that LT (LaDainian Tomlinson) will have a break out season? Why or why not?

> What do you think of the new Cowboys stadium? Jerry Jones really went all out, don't ya think?

More later. Enjoy!
